Bronwyn Halfpenny MP visits Afternoon Gathering
Last year, our then Year 3 students, were informed that I was applying for a Government Grant for new facilities at SMCM. They were tasked with the challenge to design exciting new additions for our school. Yesterday, Bronwyn Halfpenny MP, State Member for Thomastown, came to afternoon gathering with our Year 3 and Year 4 students to officially announce our successful grant application. The students were very excited to hear this news and while the swimming pools and mini golf courses they designed are not part of our plans they were very excited to learn about an undercover walkway to MacKillop Views and more toilets. We extend our thanks to Bronwyn Halfpenny MP for her continued support of our school and community.
Principal Conference
I will be on leave for the last two weeks of Term 3, while I attend the North Central Zone Principal Conference in Rome and Assisi. Over the past two years our Principal Faith Formation and Professional Learning has been focused on Pope Francis' Encyclical Laudato Si and St Francis. I feel very privileged to have this opportunity to visit the Vatican and walk in the footsteps of St Francis and St Clare especially during the Season of Creation. I will light a candle and say a prayer for our SMCM community as I visit some of the many churches and holy sites in Italy.
Jess Herrick, our Deputy Principal, will be Acting Principal while I am away with the support of Lisa Heath and the Leadership team.
Thank you for all of your support this Term. I wish all families well for the end of the school term and a restful break during the school holidays. I will look forward to seeing you all again at the beginning of Term 4.
