We acknowledge the first peoples of the Kulin Nation, their Dreaming of the past, present and future. We pay our respect for their land by looking after the land we learn and play on.

Science week and Book week at OSHC

Slime Time was back with the activity being heavily requested by students and a honed process the activity ran brilliantly. Students made Ooblek, another fun form of slime which turns from a solid to a liquid depending on the pressure applied to it. The ever impressive MnM rainbow activity made a return and wowed children with the beautiful patterns that formed once water made contact with the MnMs. We then headed into the garden to have a look at all the plants that have been growing and were able to have a taste of a few which was great!

Some feedback and comments from the students during this week included:

  • I love the feeling of the slime between my fingers.
  • This is stuff (ooblek) is so weird!
  • How does it do that?
  • I really like making the slime and being able to take it home.
  • WOW! Look at the patterns mine is making!
  • I really liked watching the MnM rainbow

The book week parade was loads of fun and it's always exciting to see people arrive at before care wearing their amazing costumes! Students shared their favourite books at the breakfast table and had a menu themed around different picture books including Strega Nonna, If You Give a Moose a Muffin and Hop on Pop.

Thursday they completed a silhouette challenge, given only the shadow of book characters they had to see how many they could identify, some of which had even the parents stumped.

The Paralympics is starting on 26th August, the team are looking forward to continuing different types of sports and celebrating the true heroes of sport! :D

A message from Lexi

Every afternoon is a Craft-er-noon with Lexi!

Hi all, I have been given lots of wool from Auntie Jenny, so we have been using beautiful wool from the 70's-90's from her craft shop. She had to move so we are very lucky to have so many beautiful colours of wool to make our 'pompoms' and 'Ojo de dios' (Gods eyes). Some students have even been finger knitting and some are learning to crochet (the craft that uses wool with one hooked needle)

Soon we want to start using our felting wool tools, to make some cool art works.

I have also had some requests for sewing, so if anyone has old fabrics they don't want, small donations are welcome!
