Connect Crew
Garden Project
Over the past couple of weeks, the Connect Program has made great progress, especially through our collaboration with the VM students on their new garden project.
The garden is coming along well, thanks to the hard work of the Connect Crew. They’ve been busy building garden edging, levelling soil, and spreading it throughout the area. This hands-on experience has not only improved the garden but also helped students develop independence, problem-solving, and practical skills with tools. They’re gaining confidence in measuring, building, and working together. We’re excited to see the final results in the next couple of weeks.
The school gardens have also been refreshed, with many areas tidied up and the soil rejuvenated, all thanks to the Connect Crew. Even when the weather hasn’t been so kind, the students have made the most of indoor days by working on creative projects and team-building activities.
Foodbank
The Connect Crew continues to maintain strong ties with Foodbank, with students attending sessions at least once a week. This ongoing connection is not only enriching their learning and community involvement but also giving them a chance to give back to the community.
Through these sessions, students are learning the value of helping others and the importance of community service. Foodbank has warmly welcomed our donations of tins of baked beans, and we encourage everyone to keep supporting this cause by leaving donations outside Courtney and Lisa's office in Mason House. Your generosity is greatly appreciated.
Templeton Tennis Club
On an exciting new note, we have established a new community relationship with the Templeton Tennis Club. The club is supporting our students by offering free tennis lessons each term to a deserving student. Congratulations to Zeke Simari, who is the first recipient of this wonderful initiative!
We look forward to watching our community connections grow!
