Book Week

The theme for Book Week this year is Reading is Magic, and the Library staff and Library Leaders were kept busy, this week, promoting that message. Students had the opportunity to enter a poetry competition and the winner will be announced next week.

Staff joined in the celebrations on Wednesday and Thursday by dressing up and ‘hiding with a book’ around the school at lunchtime for students to discover. There is a lot of research showing that adults modelling reading has been proven to positively influence the reading habits of young people, and students had a wonderful time taking the opportunity to discuss favourite books with staff.

Resident Writers is a chance for all writers and poets out there to share their talents with the school community. It is held once a term, and there are three categories (Students, Staff, and Family & friends) with a prize for the winning student entry (winners of the Staff and F&F categories get honour and glory).

As a rough guide, works should be between 250 - 350 words, shorter ok but not significantly longer. Send your entries to library@wantirnacollege.vic.edu.au with the subject line Resident Writers. Entries close at the start of Week 8: Monday 2nd September

If it is a Family & Friends submission, please mention which student or staff member you are connected to. By submitting, you agree to be published to the school community (on Teams, in the College Yearbook, etc) - please let the Library know if you want to submit but prefer to keep your work anonymous.
