Classroom Cuisine Term 3 2024 News

Please see the letter below from Classroom Cuisine

Many of you know that at the end of term two I was in touch directly with all the Families on our database who have used our service so far this year (about 24,000 people!).  I provided an update about some planned new initiatives like Loyalty Vouchers for bulk orders placed in the first week of term and Reduced Entry Point pricing, which we’ve introduced in response to the current economic climate.  We've restructured the menu a little and introduced some new menu items which has allowed us to do this.  The lower price point will hopefully help families, especially those with multiple children to have a lunch order if they are keen.  We also sought feedback about our Service, especially our Menu, to enter Term 3 as the very best version of Classroom Cuisine we can be!

I'm now writing to update you, Our Schools, on what we've been doing, and I would also love to invite you to provide feedback about your relationship with us and our service to your school.  My email address is contact@classroomcuisine.com.au.  I would be thrilled to hear from anyone whether it’s to provide feedback or to ask a question!

For many schools we are a long-standing provider.  We tend to be quite 'at arm’s length' because our systems are very strong and we are very good at getting it right, so we are not in constant contact, which we know is valued in many schools....but not necessarily all...maybe you would like to hear more from us?

As I think most would agree, when things are going well there doesn't tend to be much noise about it, and with us just 'rolling along' you might not be aware that we are always making little (and sometimes big!) changes in the background, trying to improve and raise the bar on what we do!  We would like to make sure that you know all about us including our service features, menu, and ways that we can partner with you on fundraising initiatives too.  We have lots of fundraisers in the diary and we also continue to provide support for Fetes, Fairs, Trivia Nights etc in the form of vouchers usually for the Silent Auction.  Please know that we are happy for you to contact us about opportunities for your school.

I am very mindful that staff in schools change over time and for many schools we are an inherited decision as a provider rather than a recent choice.  I would like to ensure that every school that has us provide lunches to their community feels like we are their choice – because our offering is awesome and is backed up by great customer service and on time lunches, creating as little fuss in schools with our presence as possible!….as such if there are things you don’t know about us I’d love the opportunity to share with you.

Back to what we learned from our communication with Staff and Families…

The opportunity to receive feedback from those who order our food has been fantastic for us to continue to learn and then to really lean into what people are wanting from us.  What's been resounding is that families love the convenience of our service, especially our 8.30am cut-off for ordering on the day, and the children do love their lunches!  The feedback was just so overwhelmingly positive - I was really chuffed!

The biggest discussion point with any negativity around it was our Margherita Pita Pizza - that's probably no surprise to know, for schools who were around when our previous supplier of our much-loved Margherita Pizza folded last year, and we had to introduce a new option.  I was a 50% of children liked it /50% of children didn’t like it situation, and we like our food to have more appeal than that(!) so I'm ABSOLUTELY THRILLED!! to let you know, we sourced a new style Margherita Pizza Twist, trialled it with multiple schools and because the feedback was so strong we made immediate change in weeks two of this term to the new one!   We are 4 weeks into term - we have sent out more than 6,000 serves and it has a 98% approval rating!  Yeh!!

With our Menu Choices I’m pleased to say we received other suggestions and had some of our own too… here’s a snapshot of some other new additions/changes to our Menu this term….

• Crispy Chicken Sushi• Spanakopita• Banh Mi Style Chicken in a Long Roll• Savoury Bite 'Little Frank' Roll• Wrap with Chicken, Tzatziki, Lettuce, Tomato, Carrot and Cucumber• Strawberry Jam Sandwich• 1 pc Tuna Sushi as a snack item• Roast Chicken and Salad Roll.• Gluten Free Soy Sauce is now standard in our Sushi• We have a new chicken supplier our chicken is all now Halaal!

As a small business in our 15th year, I am proud to let you know that Our Offering is genuinely the best it's been in 15 years!  I think we have really reached a point where there is literally something for everyone within the schools we service, (staff members or children), irrespective of limited 'adventurousness' with food, dietary restrictions, or cultural preferences. We have 45 choices available within each course every day!  Our pricing is realistic and sustainable, our packaging as all mindfully decided to be the very best for the environment as possible and we will continue to focus on making our service even better!

While I’m here, I would also like to thank our schools for their support (and craft scissors!) for our Sushi packaging, instead of the usual ‘clam’ packaging (which has literally no ability to be recycled) we serve ours in a 100% Home Compostable bag…which is huge, considering around 50% of our orders involve Sushi!

I have shared below the link to our website.  Please know that you can see all of our Menu as well as information on portion size, ingredients, allergen and pricing information on the Menu/Pricing page.  You can also download a PDF of our Menu if you’d like a hard copy.
