Around The Primary

Dear Families

Celebrating Fathers’ Day at our School

Fathers' Day is a special occasion that offers us the perfect opportunity to celebrate the wonderful dads, grandfathers, and father figures in our lives. Our school community gathered this morning for a lovely Mass led by Fr Mark.

The St Louis Sports Centre buzzed with excitement as families watched the photo slideshow. In addition, the students shared some songs showcasing their talents and the love they have for their fathers. Dads and their children then enjoyed a delicious morning tea, making the morning even more special.

A big thank you to all families who support and inspire our students every day. Your dedication and love are deeply appreciated, and it’s clear from the enthusiastic participation of our students how much you mean to them.

We hope you found as much joy in the celebrations as we did in organizing them. Our sincere gratitude goes to Ms Allen and Ms Lumley for preparing the Liturgy, Mrs Haydon for the music, Mrs Petsos for organising the photo displays and morning tea and to the families and staff who rose early to come together and celebrate as a community.

Fathers’ Day is a wonderful reminder of the important role that family plays in our lives, and it’s heartening to see our school community come together to honour that bond. Thank you for being an integral part of our school family.

We wish all families enjoy a happy day for this Sunday.

Kind regards

Ancient Egyptian Exhibition

The Year 4 GATE students have been learning all about Ancient Egypt.  This week, students showcased their creativity and independent research through an impressive presentation of their Ancient Egyptian Museum.

The museum featured a variety of fascinating displays, including:

  • Mummification: Revealing and explaining the steps of mummification
  • Gods and Goddesses: Introducing them and how they influenced Egyptian culture
  • Daily Life: Explored how and what people wore, ate and jobs they did
  • Importance of the Nile: Highlighting how the Nile shaped everyday life
  • Art and Social Classes: Exploring the artistic achievements and social hierarchy of Ancient Egypt
  • Ancient Egyptian Inventions: Showcasing the innovations that originated in this ancient civilization

The dedication and hard work of our Year 4 GATE students brought Ancient Egypt to life!  They should be very proud of their hard work and creativity.

Shipwreck Museum

The tour and exploration of the Western Australian Shipwrecks Museum was one of the best excursions l have ever been on. This amazing experience incorporated education at the same time as having fun. We learnt about the Aboriginals’ perspective of Australia and how they felt when the First Settlers arrived, this information helped me to better understand how difficult life was for both the Aboriginal people and the First Settlers. The excursion was informative,  helping us to form important facts about our past to bring along with us for our future. Emily Sibenaler 5B

On Monday the Year 5 classes set out on an amazing history excursion to the WA Shipwrecks Museum in Fremantle. The fun and interesting excursion was split into two parts: going on a hunt around Bathers Beach; and participating in engaging activities at the museum. The activities helped us see colonisation from both Aboriginal and English settlers' point of view. We got to try on costumes, make a tent from the resources around us and build a fence! I loved sharing the information we have been learning about in class like the horrible living conditions, food and clothing shortages, why the Industrial Revolution caused the whole thing, and looking around at the special, unique treasures uncovered from ships like the HMS Parmelia bound for the free settler colonies. I learnt so much! Claudia Milligan 5G
