World Autism Awareness Day

Reflecting on supporting all students

Let's take this opportunity today to reflect on how we can continue to support and include everyone in our school community and how we can continue in promoting kindness, inclusivity, and understanding at Cecil Hills High School.

On behalf of all the staff and students in the Support Unit, I am proud to share Anthony Ngov's speech:

________________________________________________________________________________

"Hi everyone, my name is Anthony Ngov.

Today, I will be talking to you about World Autism Awareness Day 2025.

This year's theme is Celebrate Differences, which celebrates the different abilities and experiences in the autism community".

What is Autism?

Autism is a spectrum disorder that affects people in different ways.

It can change how people talk, socialise, and behave.

Everyone with Autism is unique.

Did you know that Autism is more common in boys than girls?

Did you know that some people with Autism have exceptional abilities

like art, math, or memory?

But remember, all people with Autism are different.

Tell me about the theme for 2025

"Celebrating Differences like a Rainbow"   |   "Different Colours"

represents the variety in the Autism community.

Like a rainbow, each person with Autism has their own special colour.

Why is it important to have an understanding of Autism?

Understanding and accepting Autism helps make our school a better place for everyone.

Let's celebrate each person.

How you can help

Be Kind:   Show kindness and patience to everyone.

Be Inclusive:   Include people with Autism in school activities and talk to us.

Learn about Autism:   Share what you learn with others.

What is Autism Awareness Day?

Autism Awareness Day is all about awareness and acceptance.

Let's work together to make our school a place where everyone feels valued.

Thank you for listening and for helping make our school more inclusive.

Let's celebrate our differences and everyone's unique contributions."
