Mother's and Special Person's Day at BPS

Japanese Day

During Week 4, on Tuesday 13th May, our school will celebrate Japanese Day. This is a special highlight of the school calendar each year and the students will spend the day immersing themselves in Japanese culture and activities whilst further expanding their Japanese language skills. This is a whole school event, involving students from Prep through to Year 6. A range of activities will be taking place across the school, including Japanese calligraphy (Shodo), a Japanese puppet show performance, Japanese sports (Undokai) and Japanese item wrapping workshops (Furoshiki).

Students are invited to come to school dressed up, taking inspiration from something related to Japan.  They may like to take inspiration from traditional Japanese costume, the colours of the Japanese flag, Pokémon or other Japanese characters, etc. Please note; please ensure no chopstick accessories, ninja swords, masks or head coverings are included in costumes.

More information will follow and we will include some photos of this special day in a future issue of Stop Press.

House Points at BPS

This Term BPS we are excited to announce that we will be starting an in school, house point competition! Throughout the term students will have the opportunity to earn points for their house in class, in the yard and representing the school. These points will be tallied and updated fortnightly by our house captains as a part of an ongoing competition.

We are so proud of our school leaders who have been working hard to start building the house system up, coming up with great ideas to celebrate our amazing students. We hope that relaunching the house groups will build a sense of community amongst our students across different year levels, building relationships and a strong connection to our school.

If you are unsure of your child's assigned house or what colour the house is represented with please ask your child's teacher.

Volunteering at BPS

Beaumaris Primary School highly values our community and the support we receive from parents and carers in many different aspects of school life. We welcome the opportunity for parents and carers to volunteer within our school across a range of different school-based activities.

In previous years, we have held information sessions to provide volunteers with the required information in order to volunteer. This year, we have created a digital Volunteer Handbook and an online induction process to ensure that the information is accessible to parents/carers at a time that suits them.

If you would like to volunteer at Beaumaris Primary School, the process will now be:

  • Read the below BPS Volunteer Handbook, which includes the below policies and documents:
    • BPS Child Safety and Wellbeing Policy
    • BPS Child Safety Code of Conduct Policy
    • BPS Child Safety Responding and Reporting Policy
    • BPS Volunteers Policy
    • BPS Volunteer Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Induction Handbook.

  • Complete this online form, which includes both the Volunteer OHS Induction Checklist and the Volunteering at Beaumaris Primary School Questionnaire (https://forms.office.com/r/X1JfFrAPsa).

  • Email a scanned copy or provide in person for photocopying a valid Working with Children Check (WWCC) card to the office staff.

The above process will need to be completed prior to volunteering at Beaumaris Primary School. This process can be completed at any stage throughout the year, at a time that suits you.

We thank you for your interest in volunteering and supporting our students, staff and school community.
