Year 9 Italian

STUDENTS ENJOYED A CULTURAL LESSON IN THE KITCHEN MAKING ‘ZEPPOLE’!

The Year 9 students studying Italian continued their journey of discovery, by acknowledging the “Festa di San Giuseppe’ (St Joseph’s Day or Father’s Day), observed on 19 March each year in Italy.

The day honours St Joseph, the husband of the Virgin Mary. It is a religious and cultural celebration marked with special masses, processions, feasts and the tradition of creating elaborate alters filled with food and flowers.

The students prepared and cooked “Zeppole”, the traditional Italian pastries synonymous with the Festa di San Giuseppe celebration. The students enjoyed the experience, finishing the lesson eating the hot, freshly cooked Zeppole! An end of term reward for their hard work during the Term 1 Italian lessons.
