Easter Morning Prayer
Before baskets, egg hunts and the scramble to get to Mass, the morning can be a great opportunity to draw near to God with a simple prayer to begin the day.
Use these simple words to offer up a quiet moment to God before the Easter festivities begin in earnest.
Heavenly Father,
our hearts are so full of joy today.
You feel so near to us
on this most special celebration of Easter.
May the love we feel this morning
stay with us the rest of the day and always.
Amen.
Easter Sunday is Almost Upon Us – 19 April 2025!
Easter stands at the pinnacle of the Christian liturgical year, celebrating the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, a cornerstone of faith promising redemption and eternal life to humanity. At the heart of this jubilant time is Easter Sunday, a day brimming with the joy of the Risen Lord, which also begins the Easter Octave—eight days of unbroken celebration, each treated as though they are one and the same day. This period invites us into deep reflection and joy over the life-giving mysteries of Christ’s triumph over death.
The Octave of Easter is an extended season of joy, underscoring the central truth of Christian faith: Christ’s victory over death and sin. Throughout this time, the faithful engage in daily Masses that resonate with Easter’s hopeful and renewing message, culminating on Divine Mercy Sunday. This special day highlights God’s endless mercy and love.
Easter and the ensuing Octave are not just remembrances of a past event but are invitations into a more profound, personal encounter with the Risen Christ today. This season ushers in a time of new beginnings and divine grace, offering a pathway to spiritual renewal and deeper connection with the essence of our faith.

Term 1 House Feast Days
In Term 1, both Gavin and Tempier celebrated their Feast Days. Both days honoured their House Patrons, Fr Felix Gavin OMI and Fr Henri Tempier OMI. Boys learned that while he was born in Ireland, Fr Gavin was passionate about his love of his adopted country, Australia. He is also the only House Patron to have lived in Western Australia. The Tempier students learned how Fr Henri was a very close companion and friend of St Eugene, having received his own Oblate Cross from the hands of Fr de Mazenod.
Both Houses enjoyed a House Mass followed by lunch and a swim down at the Mazenod College pool. Both occasions were well attended and demonstrated that House spirit is alive and well at Mazenod College. The series of Feast Day celebrations will continue on for the other Houses in Term 2 and 3.
