New Maths Book and our Special Visitors
At the end of last Term, we were fortunate to have Doug Clarke, a retired professor of Mathematics, and his team including; Anne Roche, Matt Sexton and James Russo step into our classrooms. We have a lovely connection to Doug Clarke as he is the grandfather of a family of OHR students. He and his team are well respected mathematicians who have written multiple books of which OHR have previously featured. During this visit, which trialed new maths ideas and lessons, the team of 4 visited 1/2GK, 3/4CP, 5/6KM and 5/6CM. The lessons focussed on Decimals, 2D Shape, Longitude/Latitude and Place Value. The students were highly engaged in mathematics within each lesson and Doug and his team enjoyed working with such mathematical thinkers! We look forward to having them return for the next phase of their book launch.
