Service Mindset

We aim to cultivate a mindset of service in our Primary Years students—selflessly giving, loving others, and responding to their needs without expecting recognition. For Christians, this follows Jesus' example, as seen in Matthew 20:28: “Just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”

Teachers offer opportunities for students to serve in class, and many units of inquiry emphasise service.

Primary Years leaders commit to serving the student community through their gifts and talents. Each week, the PY Ambassadors lead Assembly, the Worship and Mission Leaders lead Chapel, and Library Monitors maintain an organised library.

This week, the House Arts Leaders have prepared arts-related activities for the students to enjoy during Harmony Week.

Groups of students also form clubs to serve their peers, while others offer selfless service without titles or recognition.

It’s inspiring to see the enthusiasm for service among our Primary Years students, which you may also observe at home. Showing gratitude and explaining the impact of their actions is the best way to encourage this valuable trait.

Please consider joining the Australian Lutheran World Service – Walk My Way at Good News on Sunday, 30 March, to show your children the importance of serving others.

Brainstorm Production with Year 3-4

Being Brave is a live show that gives students positive strategies to cope with emotions and adapt to change at school, at home and online. Fly is a young boy whose parents have separated. He misses his dad desperately and tries to be brave by keeping his emotions ‘bottled up’. He meets Isha, who has been forced to come to a new country. Tim is being bullied and Billie is learning to face her fears. Mrs Russo wants to connect safely with her family online and Celia is coming to terms with loss in her family.

Researched and developed in consultation with teachers and psychologists, this live theatre in education program uses song, dance and storytelling to provide students with positive coping strategies.

Sharing Growth through Three-Way Conferences

Over the next two weeks, we’re holding our three-way conferences, where students, parents, and teachers come together to celebrate learning and discuss next steps. These meetings give students a chance to take an active role in their education, share achievements, and identify areas for growth. Parents gain valuable insights, and teachers offer personalised support. By celebrating learning together, 3-way conferences strengthen the home-school connection, empowering students and motivating them to achieve their goals. Please prioritise attending with your child to help promote their growth and success.

On Tuesday 25 March and Wednesday 2 April, all Primary Years parents will have an opportunity to come along to their child's Three-way Conference. This is where students, supported by their teacher, share with parents their learning so far and goals they have for the remainder of the year.

Dates and times are listed below and bookings will open next week for families to make appointments with teachers. Look out for an email with your login details that will come from 'Schoolbox Help'. Instructions on how to make bookings will be in the email. Please do not make bookings if you are unable to attend the meeting. We have had many ‘no-shows’ to appointments in the past, and this disadvantages others who have not been able to schedule a booking. You can cancel a booking in the system two days out, so please help others and ensure you attend your appointment or cancel well in advance.

A Job Well Done: Celebrating a Successful NAPLAN Week

As the NAPLAN testing comes to a close, we would like to take a moment to celebrate the tremendous effort and dedication shown by our Year 3 and Year 5 students throughout this process.

These students have worked hard, approached the assessments with positive attitudes, and maintained respectful behavior in every aspect of their learning. Our students demonstrated maturity and resilience, perseverance, and a willingness to grow from each learning experience. Their commitment to doing their best is truly commendable, and they should all feel incredibly proud of their efforts.

We would also like to extend a huge thank you to our dedicated teachers and Learning Enhancement Officers (LEOs) for their unwavering support throughout the NAPLAN assessments. Your hard work, preparation, and encouragement played a key role in ensuring our students felt confident and well-prepared.

Congratulations and well done, everyone!
