Year 3/4 News

Learning Centre Two

It has definitely been a hectic and busy term all round for the 3/4 team. As we come to the close of Term One, we are filled with pride at the accomplishments, growth, and memories made throughout the past few months. It has been an exciting start to the school year, with students engaging in new learning experiences, making new friends, and embracing challenges with enthusiasm. From classroom activities to extracurricular events, our students have shown incredible dedication and curiosity.

Special Events

One of the highlights of the term was our Year Three students’ participation in the swimming program at King Swim. They had a fantastic time learning essential water safety skills while also improving their swimming abilities. The students showed great enthusiasm and were eager to embrace the lessons, which not only focused on technique but also on staying safe around water.

Literacy

In Literacy, our Year 4s have continued to read about empowering people throughout history. They have completed a 3-2-1 reflection about their person. The students reflected on three things that were interesting about their person, two things they would change and any opinion they have of what they learnt.

Our Year 3s have been continuing to read through different Jory John Books from the food group series. They have enjoyed using text and images to comprehend the stories and think about the greater theme and message the author was portraying. The students have been learning how to write a plan for a character, giving details about their physical and personality traits. The students have created their books about their own unique character.

Numeracy

In Numeracy, our Year 4s have been learning about Multiplication and Division. They have been learning number sequences for multiples of 3,4,6,7,8, and 9 using skip counting and arrays.

Our Year 3s have continued learning about multiplication and division. They have been learning about arrays and the connections between multiplication and division with single digit numbers. They have moved into working with multiples of fives, tens, threes and fours.

Inquiry

In Inquiry, Year 4s have been exploring their well-being through a mindmap project. This has allowed them to reflect on the different aspects of their well-being, including physical, emotional, and mental health. The students are excited to share their findings with their peers, celebrating the unique ways they approach well-being.

In Inquiry, Year Three students have been working on presenting their understanding of identity and feelings by creating a fun and creative project involving an alien friend. They have been teaching their alien how to introduce themselves and express feelings, helping them explore the importance of self-awareness and emotional expression.

Religion

In Religious Education, Grade Four students have been reflecting on the Last Supper and making meaningful connections to the celebration of the Eucharist. This has been a powerful learning experience, helping them to understand the significance of the Eucharist in the context of faith and community.

In Religious Education, Grade Three students have been focusing on all the events of Holy Week, deepening their understanding of its significance in the Catholic faith. They explored the journey of Jesus during this sacred time and made meaningful connections to the traditions we celebrate today.

Wellbeing

In Wellbeing, our Year 3s and 4s have continued learning about responsibility and internet safety. They have been exploring how to be responsible for their words and actions online. The students have also been learning how to name their rights using the internet, and explain how they feel when they feel unsafe online.
