Dream and Lead Youth Leadership conference
On Wednesday 26th March,11 of the CGPS Student Leadership Team travelled with Mrs Allison and Mrs Muller by train to the Melbourne Convention Centre in the city.
Over 2,000 students from all over Melbourne joined the Youth Leadership Conference and listened to 3 speakers:
Nick Pearce from Homie -A mission supporting young people affected by Homelessness
Wil Massara CEO for Youth leadership Academy Australia YLAA - equipping young people with Leadership skills.
Lucy Thomas from Project Rocket - a youth driven group for addressing bullying in young people.
All the students joined in with many engaging activities including singing, dancing, question time and Bingo games. Here are some of the student’s favourite parts of their day:
Afiya 6D
I really enjoyed the different speakers who came to tell us their stories and they gave us sound advice. I really loved how Lucy Thomas said,
‘Leadership is often in the choices you make when nobody is watching’
Another one of my favourite activities was the Network Bingo, where I interacted with students from other schools and made new friends.
Elina 6D
My favourite speaker was Lucy Thomas from Project Rocket. She talked about bullying and how she wanted change. We completed lots of activities such as singing, dancing, network Bingo and chatting to other students during the breaks.
Sam 6B
I enjoyed the Network Bingo because I got to work with my school friends and other students from different schools.
Selena 6A
I really enjoyed working with my peers and going to speak to other students in the Network Bingo session. My favourite speaker was Lucy from Project Rocket, where she gave us strategies to help if bullying occurs and I loved her saying ‘ You don’t need to be perfect’.
Niyana 6A
My favourite speaker was Lucy Thomas who told us not to judge a book by its cover, ‘Don’t give nametags just by looks, get to know them and acknowledge them first!’
Guralam 6A
At the conference we learned strategies to help us become better leaders. I took most from Wil Masara and his quote
‘ My age does not determine my ability to do extraordinary things,’ which will always stay with me throughout my journey as a leader.
Blake 6D
I found all the speakers very interesting and inspiring. Bonnie and Liam were excellent hosts and made it fun and engaging. I found the Homie talk very interesting and will definitely check out this website.
Anzac Day 2025
On April 25th, we remember and honour the brave Australians and New Zealanders who served in wars and conflicts, especially those who made the ultimate sacrifice. ANZAC Day is a time for reflection and remembrance. Gordon bought these amazing vintage newspapers in for us to read and reflect upon.
