Student Wellbeing

Wheelchair Basketball Incursion
In week 9, the Grade 5’s and 6’s participated in an incursion from Basketball Victoria where they participated in wheelchair basketball.
The students discovered the importance of inclusion and accessibility for people with a disability or impairment in sport and recreation activities.
The students learned new skills and were able to have meaningful conversations around the difficulties people with a disability face. Students reported that the incursion was eye-opening, challenging and a lot of fun. We look forward to continuing this incursion in the coming years.
Ranveer: “It was an amazing experience, we got to do races, drifting and mostly had a great time. It was educational, teaching us how to use a wheelchair and how people always use it.”
Jon: “I really liked the wheelchair basketball because it shows you another perspective.”
Mariam: “It was good to put myself into the shoes of someone who can't walk.”
Shaila: “It was really fun, and we learned it isn’t easy for people in wheelchairs.”
Linadi: “It was fun, and I liked how it was inclusive for everyone.”
Breakfast Club Program
Courtenay Gardens Primary School is participating in the School Breakfast Club Program, a partnership between the Victoria Government and Foodbank Victoria to provide healthy and nutritious meals to students at school so that they can get the most out of their education.
Our school Breakfast Club runs every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday morning before school from 8:30am to 8:50am out of the canteen.
Volunteers are vital to running our School Breakfast Club. We are seeking volunteers to assist with setting up our breakfast space, preparing and serving breakfast, interacting with the students, and cleaning up. It is a wonderful opportunity to have a positive impact on the lives of our students and to connect with the local community in a warm and welcoming environment.
If you are available and interested in assisting on one or more days, please contact Georgia Ryalls on:
