Around the school...
We are Learners!
It has been a delight walking into classrooms across the school to see and hear learning in action. Our students have been engaged in their learning as class routines and expectations are in place. We have a whole school focus on ensuring - calm and productive classrooms where students are ready to learn!
The Living Well, Learning Well: Student Support Framework for Armidale Catholic Schools was
developed to bring an informed and evidence-based coherence to student support in the
faith, learning, wellbeing and positive behaviour domains.
Our 3 - 6 students completed a Living Well, Learning Well survey to help capture student voice. The data indicated that students believe they get ~ worthwhile learning in calm, collaborative classrooms and staff support their learning.
Across our classrooms we have developed ‘Rules for Living’ as framework for social behaviour expectations:
■ I am safe (and here is how I am kept safe and keep others safe)
■ I am valued, respected and cared for (and here is how I am valued, respected and
cared for, and how I value, respect and care for others)
■ I am a learner (and here is how I support my learning, the learning of others and the
work of my teacher and other adults)
Ways that students have demonstrated this is through:
• Students and staff form learning teams (be part of the team)
• Try hard (persist when things are tough)
• Get back on track if re-directed
• Self-question:
✴ What am I learning?
✴ How am I going?
✴ How can I improve my work and learning?
✴ What help do I need?
✴ Who can help?
• Don’t disrupt the learning of others or the work of adults who are helping us learn
Our family conferences were a great way for you to find out so much more about learning and there are many ways we work with families to support learning.
• Supporting policies, practices and protocols that enhance student learning
• Recognising and supporting the link between strong school attendance and successful learning
• Engaging in ongoing, productive conversations about learning with students, teachers and school leaders
• Recognising high family regard for learning, a literacy-rich home environment and a high regard for the work of the school as powerful positive influences on student learning and wellbeing outcomes
Learning takes many shapes and forms from gross and fine motor to teacher directed to the whole class or guided groups, cooperative group work, problem solving and independent learning.
We thank our team of staff for fostering engaging and productive learning opportunities across the school.
Finally, we commend our students on a successful Term 1 full of learning, great success on the sporting field, new friendships being made and happy faces. We wish our students a safe, blessed and happy holiday and we look forward to returning in Term 2.

“People have a better day because I am here as part of the HTS team.”
All staff, all students, all of the time have a better day because I am here as part of the HTS team. Students are provided with time to reflect on these words through the lens of our Living Well, Learning Well Framework as we ask the question - What have you done today to make it better for others?
