From the Principal

Our Vision

Each child has a gift or talent. It is our job to find it and to show it to them.

Our Mission

Identify the talent, develop the confidence and create the leader.

What do we live for, if it is not to make life less difficult for each other?

Dear Parents and Guardians,

As we reach the end of Term 1, we are proud to reflect on what has been a highly successful and engaging start to the year at Le Page Primary School. The term has been filled with a wonderful mix of academic progress, community engagement, and extracurricular achievements. We have enjoyed seeing our students thrive in a range of areas, and we are excited to share some of the key highlights with you.

Classroom Developments and School Routines

One of the most notable aspects of this term has been the implementation ofsmaller class sizes across the school. This change has provided students with more personalised attention, fostering a more supportive and interactive learning environment. Teachers have been able to tailor their teaching approaches to the specific needs of their students, which has led to significant improvements in engagement and understanding. Our focus on school routines has also been instrumental in helping students feel settled and confident in their learning. Establishing consistent expectations has allowed them to focus on their work and develop good habits from the very beginning of the year.

A major focus this term has been on improving handwriting across the school. Through targeted practice, students have made impressive progress in their fine motor skills and letter formation. Teachers have worked closely with students to provide the necessary support and encouragement, and the results are already visible in the neatness and presentation of students’ work.

Community Engagement

Term 1 has been a wonderful opportunity to foster a sense of community within our school. Our Social and Fundraising Team organised special lunch days that were a great success. A parent social event was aslo a great opportunity for parents to come together to enjoy the company of other families in the Le Page community. It has been fantastic to see our students and families coming together to support these events and build a sense of camaraderie within the school.

This term, we also saw the election of new School Council members and the Student Lighthouse Team. These groups are already making a positive impact by helping to shape the direction of the school and lead initiatives that benefit all students. We are excited to see how these leaders continue to inspire their peers and contribute to our school community.

Parent and Teacher Connections

Our Parent-Teacher Meet and Greet event was a wonderful opportunity for families to connect with teachers and learn about their child’s progress in the first few weeks of the year. It was a valuable experience for parents to gain insights into classroom activities and share important information about their child’s learning needs.

We hosted an informative Open Morning – Come and Watch Us Teach Phonics (PhOrMeS), where parents had the chance to observe firsthand how we teach phonics and reading skills in the classroom. This session was well attended and helped strengthen the partnership between home and school.

Term 1 also saw the introduction of the 7 Habits of Highly Effective People workshops for parents. These workshops aimed to equip parents with practical tools to help foster leadership and effectiveness within their families. We’ve had great feedback from parents, and we look forward to continuing these sessions in future terms.

NAPLAN

NAPLAN testing for students in Years 3 and 5 took place this term, and we are proud of the efforts and resilience shown by our students. We recognize the importance of these assessments but also emphasize the value of continued support and encouragement throughout the year.

Sport and Music Activities

In terms of extracurricular activities, students participated in the exciting Swimming Carnival, where they showcased their competitive spirit and swimming skills. The Lightning Premiership competition also saw our students engage in a range of sports, building teamwork and sportsmanship. The Grade 5 and 6 mini concert was another highlight, where our students demonstrated their creativity and talent in a fun and supportive environment.

Wishing You a Happy Holiday

As we now look ahead to the school holidays, we want to take a moment to thank all parents for their continued support and involvement in our school community. We wish you all a restful and enjoyable break, and we look forward to seeing everyone back at school for Term 2, ready for another exciting chapter of learning and growth.

Warm regards,

George Danson
