Term 1 Week 10 - 4th April 2025
Congratulations to all Preps on their first term of school and congratulations to all families for this milestone as well. The Prep team is very proud of their growth and resilience they have demonstrated this term. We have enjoyed getting to know each Prep this term and building positive and meaningful relationships. This term has been busy! Swimming at Waves, school cross country, Hoodie up for Autism day, Harmony Day 1:1 maths assessments, in class literacy assessments all on top of a busy curriculum and learning a new routine at school. So we hope these holidays can be used to rest and recharge ready for a jam packed term two! Thank You to all families for your ongoing support.
Maths:
We have begun addition and subtraction up to 5 and beyond. Preps have been using five frames and counters to work out simple addition stories. I am incredibly impressed with their eagerness to learn.
Literacy:
I have included a phonics table that shows what sounds and words are taught when. I will continue to update this in term 2.

Thank you to the families for attending our phonics morning last week. The students were very excited to have you there. It was lovely to hear your positive feedback! We continue this structure in term 2 with our morning focus on phonics.
Next term we will move to the text type of recount text. We will explore short reads of texts and look into a day on the farm. This will link with our Excursion to Myuna Farm on Tuesday 13th May. Please be sure to provide permission and payment via compass.
Leader In me:
We are continually using the language of the 7 habits in the classroom. It is lovely to hear students using the 7 habits language in the classroom. .
Inquiry:
Students have completed their first unit of Inquiry on Personal and social capabilities where they focussed on different emotions and feelings. They enjoyed acting out different feelings and different scenarios. Thankyou for sending in your family photos these are displayed proudly on our wall

Important reminders:
- Please ensure that your child has a substantial lunch such as a sandwich/roll/wrap or thermos for example for lunch along with a snack (cracker/yoghurt) and fruit or vegetables.
- Daily we have a fruit break, we kindly ask that you please pack your child a piece of fruit or a vegetable to snack on during this time.
- Please have your child’s drink bottle filled with water only.
- Please ensure that every item of clothing, including lunch boxes are clearly labelled.
- Please make sure your child has a spare change of clothes in the bags, just in case.
