Changed Parking Conditions - Dixon St
The City of Kingston has addressed safety concerns to pedestrians and motorists caused by vehicles performing U-turns and waiting in the No Standing zone on Dixon Street near Gate 1 to our Mentone Campus.
Council will install NO U-TURN signs along Dixon Street and reinforce the existing No Standing signs in April.
With these new road safety measures on this side of the College, to ensure safer arrival and departure, we again urge families to consider arranging drop off / collection points to either Warrigal Road, Beach Road, or Como Parade. We also encourage students travel by train or cycle, as our College has extensive storage for bikes.
Thank you for helping to keep our students safe, and for your support and consideration of our neighbours.
Notifying Us When Your Child Is Absent
We wish to remind all families the process of notifying the College when your child is absent or attending an appointment during the school day.
- PAM is the official College platform for families to register the absence of their child, whether it be due to illness, for planned appointments or holidays ahead of time. PAM is secure and accessible 24 hours a day.
- Your child’s absence / late arrival or early finish must be registered by 9.45am that day.
- If the 9.45am cut off has passed, you must register your child’s absence for that day with the relevant campus via the following email:
Bentleigh East absentee.student.bentleigh@stbedes.catholic.edu.au
Mentone absentee.student.mentone@stbedes.catholic.edu.au
To ensure the safety of our students, the College cannot accept text messages regarding an absence, late arrival or early finish presented by students on their phones.
Students are expected to arrive by 8.40am and to stay on College property until they are dismissed at 3.15pm. Parent notification is required when your son is arriving late, leaving early, absent or has planned absences. Should students arrive after 8.40am, they must sign in at Student Services. Parents will receive a SMS if their child is absent from his morning Homeroom or Tutor Group.
Student Medication
The health and wellbeing of all our students is central across every area of the College. To ensure the safety of medication administration at school, no student is allowed to self-medicate whether it is prescription or over the counter medication.
Any child who has a diagnosed health care need, complex care need or relevant medical condition requires a medical management plan completed by your treating doctor. Some medical conditions already have a condition-specific medical management plan, such as anaphylaxis, allergic reactions (green plan), asthma, diabetes and epilepsy.
For a Medical Management Plan, please contact:
Michelle Butler First Aid Officer mb@stbedes.catholic.edu.au
Medication Policy
For all medication to be administered during school hours, a Medication Authority Form must be completed and attached to the Medical Management Plan. An example would be a student with ADHD requiring medication during the school day.
Asthma medication and adrenaline auto-injectors for anaphylaxis are unrestricted and do not require a Medical Authority Form.
For short-term over the counter medication such as paracetamol a medical authority form may be completed by a parent or carer and does not require a medical management plan. If you require further information please contact your relevant Campus' First Aid department.
Please return these forms to FirstAid@stbedes.catholic.edu.au
Student Accident Policy
St Bede's College has a Student Accident Policy that covers our students 24 hours a day,
7 days a week for College related activities.
This insurance policy covers the following types of events: dental injury, broken or fractured bones, dislocation of joints, ligament and organ damage, burns, non-Medicare accident expenses etc.
Should you need to make a claim, you can access the insurance claim form online here.
