EXTRA! EXTRA! READ ALL ABOUT IT!!!!!!
BEPS has been invited to participate in the celebration of the
50th Anniversary of the Australian Honours System by the
National Portrait Gallery.
The Governor-General of the Commonwealth of Australia, Her Excellency the Honourable Ms Sam Mostyn AC has invited us to participate in the ‘My Awesome Australian’, an online exhibition for and by young people.
Students are encouraged to create a portrait of someone in their community who they think deserves to be recognised and celebrated.
Selected entries will form part of an online exhibition, and all participants will be invited to the virtual launch in Term 3.
How to Get Involved:
Identify your Awesome Australian.
Think about someone who you feel deserves an award for their service and contribution to making life better for your community.
Create a portrait.
Create a portrait of this person- it can be a painting, drawing or sculpture (but not a photograph). The portrait may be realistic or symbolic. Illustrate your thoughts and feelings about their contribution to the community.
Share their story.
Write a few words about the person and which award you are nominating them for. The award could be real or made up- use your imagination!
Submit your work.
Upload an image of your portrait and story to portrait.gov.au/myawesomeaustralian by 5pm on 19th June 2025 for your chance to be featured in the My Awesome Australian online exhibition!
Keep an eye out on your inbox.
You will receive an invitation to the virtual exhibition launch with Her Excellency the Honourable Ms Sam Mostyn AC Governor-General of the Commonwealth of Australia in Term 3, 2025.
Tell Rochelle.
Tell me if you have entered and/or got selected to be a part of the exhibition, and we will celebrate YOU!!!
