SRC Leadership Training Sessions

Recently, SRC students completed a survey to identify the leadership skills they wanted to develop. They highlighted areas such as Public Speaking Skills and Conflict Resolution Skills. In response, we organized leadership training sessions to help them build confidence in these areas. The first period of this two-period session focused on developing skills to overcome fear and present with confidence. It began with a video by Jamie Oliver to demonstrate high-impact statements, followed by lessons on the Rule of Three in presentations, body language, and research on turning anxiety into excitement. The second session started with a clip from the film "Mean Girls" and continued with activities to identify the definition and causes of conflicts. Students built strategies for resolving conflicts and learned about the importance of active listening. After both sessions, students reflected on their experiences and set goals for their personal development.

Below are the goals set by two members of the SRC.

I need to focus on my body language when presenting, especially gestures but also maybe voice projection. To achieve my goal, I can focus on it while practising for presentations.

Being able to approach conflicts between individuals in a calm and peaceful manner in order to solve the issue without being biased towards any one party. To solve this, I will have to shift my mindset from trying to prove that I am right, to being a bit more patient.
