Year 9-12 students require community projects, work experience, work placement Hosts to enable them to build their skills and knowledge sets to consider potential careers or further study in the future.
Some examples are: Blaze Aid, Tree planting, site preparation for community events, opportunity to work on farms, in the shearing shed, Back yard Blitz etc.
If students are 15 years and over they can partake in work experience. If student is studying a VET program, they can be considered to do a Structured Work placement.
Groups of students that are under 15 years of age can work as a group. They can be bused to your business or farm, with a supervising teacher to complete jobs.
You provide the materials and the instruction, and we will provide the hands.
We also require volunteers for our senior students to complete hours on their driving log books, so that they are able to gain a licence in readiness for leaving school.
Some benefits of work experience for students are:
· It helps you decide the right career path by giving you insight into the world of work and the skills required for different jobs.
· It enables you to put theory-based learning into practice and develop new skills in a real-world setting.
· It helps you to build a professional network and relationships with the right people, which can be useful for job searching and career development.
· It improves your chances of securing a graduate job by adding to your CV and showing your motivation and commitment.
· It improves your self-confidence, maturity and independence by exposing you to new challenges and responsibilities.
A very busy couple of days were experienced in Halls Gap, but all the students blended well between the schools and gave it their all.
