Kindness Collective Garden:

Last Saturday, around 16 volunteers from the Kindness Collective came together at Western Heights to transform our environmental garden area.

This garden has been locked down for the best part of a year while our new four-classroom build has been happening. The weeds had, therefore, taken over pretty completely. As you can see from the sequence of photos below, it was a very big job and was done to the highest standard.

We are very fortunate indeed, and we appreciate and thank the Kindness Collective and Mitre Ten for their support. Materials alone for this project cost over $7,500.

Whaea Nicole now has an Enviro-Garden team of 24 children who will ensure the garden is well cared for and maintained. They will liaise with educators from Auckland Zoo and DOC educators to ensure they are eco-friendly, make the best compost, and follow the best gardening practices. This group will also work with local environmental groups to support the health and well-being of Opanuku Stream, our local stream.
