Conquer Wollongong!

In week 5, our Year 9 Outdoor Education and Year 12 Sport, Lifestyle and Recreation (SLR) classes embarked on an action-packed excursion to the beautiful coastal city of Wollongong. The trip was a fantastic opportunity for students to challenge themselves, build teamwork, and experience the thrill of outdoor activities in a stunning environment.

Our adventure began with a vertical challenge at the local indoor rock climbing gym. Students of all skill levels pushed their limits, learning essential climbing techniques and encouraging each other to reach new heights.

Next, we took to the calm waters of Lake Illawarra for a stand-up paddle-boarding session. The students quickly mastered the art of balancing and paddling, enjoying the stunning views. It was a perfect way to appreciate the area's beauty from a unique perspective.

Our physical challenge continued with a hike up the iconic Mount Keira which stands 400m above the city. The students tackled 12km of steep trails with determination, rewarding themselves with breathtaking panoramic views of Wollongong and the surrounding landscape.

Finally, no trip to Wollongong would be complete without a surfing session! The students braved the waves at Corrimal Beach, learning the basics of surfing from experienced instructors. There were plenty of laughs, wipeouts, and triumphant rides as everyone gave it their best shot. The sheer joy and exhilaration of catching a wave was palpable.

Throughout the trip, students demonstrated exceptional resilience, teamwork, and a willingness to try new things. The excursion provided invaluable opportunities for personal growth, skill development, and the creation of lasting memories.

Thanks to Mr McNamara and Mr Price who accompanied and supported the students, ensuring a safe and successful trip.
