Fete Information

Can you believe it?? The Fete is now only 3 days away! Students in both classes are now getting very excited, and we can’t wait for the big afternoon.

With Friday fast approaching, we need all the help we can get to run two successful stalls! We are asking for you to spare half an hour to help out, which may include assisting with the setup, pack up and running of the stall - many hands make light work. If a time doesn't suit your child/children’s class, please feel free to help out one of the other Scotsburn classes. We would appreciate any help, and it is a super fun event to be involved in!

Thank you to those that have offered to volunteer their time, as well as offer up eskys and gazebos. If you are still able to help volunteer, we have some spare spots available. Click on the link below.

Friday Arrangements

With Friday being a shortened school day, beginning at 12:00pm, we have decided that it would be best to spend this time at the Buninyong campus on Friday. There are a couple of reasons why we think this would be best. These include:

  • Opportunity to be well set up and prepared for the fete stalls
  • Opportunity to walk to cross country track as a class, ready for interhouse cross country in a few weeks
  • Chance to visit the library and return/borrow some books
  • Scotsburn students to be amongst the excitement of the fete

This will mean that both drop off (from 11:45am in the courtyard) and pickup (3:30pm in the courtyard) will be at the Buninyong campus. The Fete will then commence at 5pm.

Grade 3 and Grade 4 Camp Next Week

Next week, our Grade 3 and 4 students will join their Buninyong friends on their overnight camp, to Cave Hill Creek in Beaufort. Our Grade 3s will be attending from Monday 24th - Tuesday 25th, with our Grade 4s attending from Tuesday 25th - Wednesday 26th.

Thank you to Vanessa Munro who will be supporting our Grade 3s on Monday and Tuesday, for their first big overnight camp. Scotsburn students will also be allocated a Buninyong teacher as their group leader, who will support them across the two days. Our Grade 4s are now old hands at overnight camps and will also be allocated to a Buninyong teacher as their camp leader.

Mr Morgan will be at the Buninyong campus on both Monday and Tuesday mornings to see them off and answer any last questions.

If you haven’t already, please return your child’s medical information form ASAP. If you require a new one, please let Jarrod know. Jarrod also has some spare camp information forms, should you require a new one.

Any questions about camp, please come and see Jarrod this week.

Family Groups - Sustainability

Last week in the Sustainability Family Group, students were learning all about composting. We learnt about why we compost, how we compost and what are some good materials to use for great compost. Students then went out and collected both “green” and “brown” compost material in recycled containers, and we will see how these organic materials break down over the next few weeks.

Kelly Sports

Over the past week we have had a couple of visits from Kelly Sports at lunchtimes to run some fun sports workshops. Last week students got a chance to participate in tee ball and some throwing and catching activities. Our students love it when Kelly Spots comes along. Thanks for organising Ms Middy!

Reading Buddy Routines

Our students are settling into their reading buddy routines, building confidence reading fluently and with expression. SC1 enjoys guiding their buddy and it is wonderful to see these partnerships grow each week!

SC2 Learning Snapshot

Over the past week in Reading, students in SC2  have been looking at cultural perspective and the significance of cultural texts. Students have been analysing the language used in the chosen texts, to gain a deeper understanding of why a book might be created as well as the message it is aiming to convey. Students then used this work to look at our Scotsburn Acknowledgement of Country, and add some visual symbols to go with our already established actions.

This week we have also started looking at beginning the construction of our solar boats, as part of our inquiry focus on sustainability. Thanks to those who have sent some materials into class. Weather permitting, our race day will be next Friday at Buninyong.

Scotsburn Intercampus Travel

At times, Scotsburn students will be transported between campuses in order to attend classes, assemblies, special days and events. On most occasions, transport required through the day will be by bus and occasionally private car for smaller groups of students. Parents may be asked to drop off or collect from the Buninyong campus if sessions are at the beginning or ending of a day.

We will always let you know of any upcoming travel arrangements via our newsletter, Compass, or via phone for smaller, more specific travel arrangements.

If you ever have any questions or concerns regarding intercampus travel, please contact your child’s teacher.
