Message from the Principal
St Peter’s School - an empowered faith community to enrich the world.
Arise, shine; for your light has come, and the glory of the Lord has risen upon you (Is 60: 1)
This week, we celebrate Catholic Education Week in the Archdiocese of Melbourne. Part of the celebrations held is the MACS Creative Art Expo. This year, one of our students had a piece of artwork selected - congratulations to class of 2024 student Annie Nguyen for her wonderful piece of art entitled 'Meteors at Dusk'. This is on display at the Catholic Leadership Centre, 576 Victoria Parade, East Melbourne, until Sunday. Thank you to our wonderful Art teacher, Ms Longano, for organising this opportunity for our students.
Students in class this week have been reflecting on the light they bring to the world, which is in line with the theme of Catholic Education Week. Please read the information provided on the Religious Education page on other ways our school brings light to the world, especially during the season of Lent.
We ask that students wear our uniform with pride, and, under our value of Responsibility, explicitly teach 'I wear the school uniform correctly'. Yellow polo tops, grey shorts and coloured t-shirts for sports lessons are no longer part of our uniform. Students should wear the green and gold polo with green shorts/skort/long pants or the green and white check dress.
We will be sending home letters to individual families when the correct uniform is not being worn. We thank you for your ongoing support in ensuring students proudly represent St Peter's School.
We continue to work in partnership with some of the Catholic High schools in our area.
Our Year 6 students were invited to participate in a workshop at Salesian College recently, where they worked on public speaking and debating skills. Students demonstrated a high level of participation and engagement.
Belinda and I have been visiting local kindergartens this month to continue building our connections with the kindergartens in Clayton. We are excited to be attending some information sessions and commencing a transition program where reciprocal visits will occur.
How disappointing that the weather meant the Clayton Festival ran a very different program on Sunday. We were set up and ready to go when the organisers decided to cancel the outside part of the festival. We will be back to support the festival in 2026!
Well done to our Year 3 and 5 students for the way they have completed the NAPLAN assessments. This is referred to further on the Learning and Teaching page.
