Year 5/6 Gala and Rec Days

In Week 5 and 6, the Year 5/6s participated in the annual Summer Sports Gala and Recreation programs. Our cricket, volleyball, softball and tennis teams travelled off-campus over two Fridays, to compete against other neighbourhood District schools. Our Recreation group visited local community organisations such as the Essendon Bowls Club and Windy Hill Swimming Pool to take part in lawn bowls clinics and water confidence classes. It was a busy couple of Fridays with all of our 5/6s participating in physical activity and making the most of our warmer weather.

Our Gala teams competed incredibly well, with the tennis and volleyball taking out the winning titles, and now progressing through to the Moonee Ponds Divisions comps later in the year. Well done to all of the students involved and thank you to all parent volunteers who were able to make these Gala and Rec days a success!

Moonee Ponds Division Swimming Carnival

A huge congratulations goes out to Raphael L for smashing his 50m breaststroke race at the Moonee Ponds Division Swimming Carnival, in the 9/10yrs age category. Raph placed first in his race, which now sees him progress through to the Western Metro Region swim event (one level under State) in Geelong, on April 1st. He has been training hard for this event, and we wish him all the best in his next progression. Outstanding work, Raph!

Girls' Cricket Clinic

It has been wonderful to see so many girls sign up to the free Vic Cricket clinic after school, with eighteen girls counted in the sign up. Coach Megan has been teaching the girls how to bowl, bat and field in the four week program. There have been lots of smiles and some impressive skills demonstrated in the first two weeks. We look forward to the final two clinics and love that some families are considering pursuing cricket again for the next Summer season.
