St Patrick's Day fun
On Monday 17th March, we celebrated the legacy of St Patrick in a liturgy hosted by our Stage Three young people.
The Stage Three students reminded us that St Patrick, after years of slavery, brought the light of Christ to Ireland and inspired generations with his faith, perseverance, and love for God, with his lived example of a trust in God’s guidance. Before heading out
Our students highlighted our fundraising for Project Compassion with a video showing our Samoan neighbours and their challenges with drinking water at school.
Well done to our Stage Three young people who then hosted activities after our liturgy to raise money towards Project Compassion. Their goal was $200 and they smashed it with $269 raised!!!
As a part of our school community consultation for Term 1 and Term 2, the School Advisory Council and the School Leadership Team will host a World Cafe' forum for Stage Three parents called: ‘Penne for your thoughts'.
What is a World Cafe' Forum?
The World Café method was designed to create a safe, welcoming environment in which those people who are hosting, intentionally connect multiple ideas and perspectives on questions/statements or topics by engaging participants in rounds of small-group conversation. In the spirit of sharing: we will gather together for a meal of pasta and breaking of bread before commencing the sharing of ideas.
Essential to the forum is:
• A feeling of welcoming: facilitators are true hosts – creating a spirit of welcome so that our invitees are encouraged to share their generative/productive thoughts and feelings.
• Diversity: In order to create an accurate picture of the whole, we must see that each perspective is different. Different, because of who we are, what role we have, our own life context.
• Movement: We incorporate movement around the tables so that when we move, we can see other perspectives, open up our hearts and release as many preconceptions as possible. It allows us to open up to the reality of change and encourages us to shift into another mindset.
The 'conversation' is recorded by our table hosts through; comments, pictures, statements and harvested to share together as an end result.
Please note:
If we do not have enough interest from S3 parents we will open it up to S2 and S3 parents.
Please note: that there will be another evening directed towards the junior primary year levels in Term Two.
When: Thursday 26th March 6pm Parochial Hall
Bookings are essential, please contact Amber and Naomi in the front office to register your interest.
Our Year 3 and 5 students have successfully completed NAPLAN for the year—well done to all!
This standardised assessment, the National Assessment Program – Literacy and Numeracy, provides valuable insights into students' literacy and numeracy skills.
From a Parent’s Perspective
NAPLAN helps parents understand their child’s progress against national standards. It is not about passing or failing but tracking learning development.
From a Teacher’s Perspective
Educators use NAPLAN data to supplement their observations, identifying students who may need additional support or greater challenges. The results help tailor teaching programs and contribute to broader educational insights at the school level.
We look forward to receiving the results when they are published and celebrating our students' achievements. Thank you to our teachers, families, and students for their dedication and effort!
Education is important and regular attendance at school is essential for your child to achieve their educational best and increase their career and life options. When your child attends school every day, learning becomes easier as they are able to build on what was learned the day before. Just one day missed per fortnight equates to one whole year over a child's school life!
Arriving at school on time is also important. Classes start at 8:50 am so students should arrive at least ten minutes prior to this to ensure they have time to put their bags away and greet their friends. Arriving after the bell disrupts the flow of the class, and important daily reminders and learning opportunities are missed.
We must always remember that student time is the MOST precious resource that we have.
Schools, in partnerships with families, are responsible for promoting the regular attendance of students and for ensuring that non-attendance is addressed effectively. Thank you for prioritising your children’s attendance at school and please do not hesitate to contact us if you require support in this area.
Until next time, may the road rise up to meet you.
