”Lord, as we mark this significant milestone,
we seek Your guidance for our future goals.
Lead us on the right path and help us make wise decisions.
Amen"
Thank you to all families and friends who attended the Year 5/6 Buddy Mass on Sunday. It was great to see so many families attend this special celebration. What a great opportunity for our new and existing foundation families to come together and celebrate the beginning of your children's faith journey. Also thank you to our choir who sang beautifully at mass.
This Wednesday the 5th of March, we celebrate Ash Wednesday. It is the first day of the Christian season of Lent. Lent is a time when we pray, give up things we enjoy in order to give to others, and do kind things for people. As we prepare to remember the death and resurrection of Jesus during Easter, let us do so with hope, now and for future generations. This year in order to celebrate Ash Wednesday each level will engage in liturgy where they will participate in prayer, reflect on the season of Lent and receive the ashes.
During the six weeks of Lent, as a school community, we focus on Project Compassion and as a school community how we can make a difference. Project Compassion brings thousands of Australian schools, parishes and supporters together to raise funds for living in some of the most vulnerable communities across the world.
This week each family will receive a Caritas money box where we ask for a small donation. Your generosity can help the lives of some of the world’s most vulnerable people.
Thank you to 3/4BP for leading us in prayer last Friday. Throughout this celebration the children engaged in writing the prayers of the faithful, taking part in scripture readings and liturgical songs. We invite all parents and carers to attend these special celebrations.
As a catholic faith community, we keep our Year 3 children in our prayers as they begin preparing for the Sacrament of Reconciliation.
A reminder to all Year 3 parents of children receiving the sacrament of Reconciliation, that this Thursday, 6th of March at 7.00pm, we will be engaging in the Reconciliation online workshop facilitated by Maria Forde. A link will be sent to all families closer to the date. Maria Forde has requested that families have a candle ready during the workshop.
Reconciliation Retreat Day:
In celebrating the Sacrament of Reconciliation, all Year 3 children will have the opportunity to participate in a retreat day on Monday the 17th March at St Fidelis school. The day will be facilitated by Annette Gasbarro. Further information will be discussed during our online Reconciliation workshop.
Reconciliation Celebration:
The Reconciliation celebration will take place on Thursday 20th of March at 6.00pm at St Fidelis Church.
God bless and have a great week.
