Melbourne Museum - Dinosaur Incursion (Friday 7th March)
The children were so excited with our visit from the Melbourne Museum with their special dinosaur bones. Madeline and Selwyn from the Melbourne Museum helped us learn about the history of dinosaurs and fossils. During our session together, the children learnt many Auslan (Australian sign language) gestures, including how to sign 'dinosaur', 'extinct', 'butterfly' and 'whales'. The children applied a wide variety of scientific language such as 'herbivore', 'carnivore' and 'extinct' into their discussions with Madeline and Selwyn. At the end of the session, the children were thrilled to see, touch and hold many dinosaur teeth, horns, fossils and even the foot, shin and head of a Muttaburrasaurus (which is an Australian dinosaur!).
