ANZAC Learning: Exploring History Through Literature and Song

The Year 5/6 students have embarked on a meaningful exploration of the ANZACs, immersing themselves in rich literature and analysing language that creates vivid imagery. Inspired by The Beach They Called Gallipoli by Jackie French, they created collage-style illustrations reflecting the text’s powerful themes.

Students also explored the song I Was Only 19, discussing its meaning and emotional impact. Drawing from picture books and poetry, they have crafted reflective pieces that align with the theme.

It has been wonderful to see their creativity and empathy shine through, and we look forward to continuing our exploration of the ANZAC legacy.
