Principal's Report

Newsletter Report – Acting Principal, March 13, 2025
Dear Parents,
It’s been an exciting and busy start to the year here at LPPS, and we hope you’re enjoying it as much as we are!
We’ve recently held our School Council election, and our AGM took place on March 17th. A big thank you to all of our past School Council members for their dedication and hard work. We’re excited to welcome and collaborate with our new members in the year ahead.
Our focus this year continues to be on our Annual Implementation Plan and the goals we’ve set for 2025. Our Student Improvement Team (SIT) meets regularly to review and track our short-term goals, ensuring we stay on course. At the state level, we’re focusing on the vision of ‘Excellence in every classroom, for every student, every day, across the school,’ and we’ve tailored our own goals to support this vision:
- Improve student learning outcomes in literacy and numeracy
- Enhance student agency, engagement, and connectedness to their learning
- Support the wellbeing of all students
Each goal is being championed by specific leaders, and we’re tracking progress through data-driven targets to ensure we’re on track.
Our staff has been fully engaged in Real Schools Professional Development, with Adam Voigt joining us for a session on wellbeing. He spoke about the importance of promoting a positive mindset and establishing consistent routines. This complements our ongoing work with our coach, Daniel Vella. A core aspect of our work is ensuring a strong relationship between teachers and students, and we’re supporting staff to use affective language to build empathy and strengthen these relationships. One of the tools we’re using is the P3P3F3 practice, which helps us address and resolve negative situations, ensuring a positive and safe learning environment for everyone. Through this approach, our goal is to nurture resilient, emotionally intelligent students.
NAPLAN assessments have also been completed smoothly this year. Our school received high praise from an independent assessor for the organization and delivery of the assessments. While NAPLAN is just one snapshot of student performance, it provides valuable data to inform how we can continue to improve our teaching practices and support student learning.
In addition, our THRIVE curriculum is being actively delivered in classrooms, with student diaries being used to track progress. Our Student Leaders had the opportunity to attend a GRIP conference about Student Leadership, as part of the THRIVE network, and our Playleaders are doing an incredible job running activities for our junior students. We were also lucky to have Robyn Papworth as a guest speaker at EMC, and we hope many of you found the session insightful.
It’s also that time of year for school photos! Thanks to the seamless processes in place, everything is running smoothly, and we look forward to sharing the final product with you.
A big thank you to our PFC for organizing a fun Casual Dress Day in St. Patrick’s green! The donations raised will go towards our I Can challenge.
The PFC is also busy planning our Mother’s Day stalls, and we’re grateful for their efforts in creating fun events for our school community. We’re fortunate to have such a dedicated group of volunteers supporting our school.
Finally, I want to express my heartfelt thanks to our wonderful community. Your support and collaboration make a huge difference, ensuring our students thrive and grow in a positive and nurturing environment.
Warm regards,
Deb Haddow
