Celebrating Neurodiversity

When it comes to inclusion, neurodiversity refers to a world where neurological differences are recognised and respected as all other human variations.
At HT, we celebrate the fact that every student is different and that some of our students are neurodiverse. Neurodiversity refers to a world where neurological differences are recognised and respected. This term serves as an umbrella for various thinking styles, including Autism (ASD), ADHD, Dyslexia, Dyspraxia and Mitochondrial Disease.
It is estimated that approximately 15-20% of the population has a neurological difference.
Rather than focusing on "disorders" or "deficits," we recognize that these are natural variations in how people move, communicate, and process information. By respecting these differences, we ensure that our entire school community benefits from the diverse perspectives that different thinkers bring to our classrooms.
By harnessing the specific strengths of our students, we can help build their confidence and self-esteem, ensuring everyone has the opportunity to flourish in their school life. No two people are the same, and by embracing our different profiles, we create a more inclusive environment where every child can succeed.
We have also included a poem written by one of our parents about their child.
