Main Campus - Year 4

We have reached the end of term and what a term it has been!

During week 8, 4AI returned to the main campus whilst 4LS arrived back at the Carlsruhe campus, this time in the main room. It was fantastic to see how quickly both classes settled into their new routines.

4LS have been enjoying getting to know our new guinea pigs and were excited to find out when they would be taking care of the animals. Special thanks to Mrs Meggs for her epic organisation of the new animal care roster.

On Thursday we celebrated “R U OK?” Day and it was amazing to see so much yellow in support of this important cause.

We have been having lots of fun building cubbies and completing jobs together. It has been great to see all the collaborative play and teamwork happening each recess.

On Tuesday, all the Year 4 students attended the Carlsruhe Campus for the ‘Water Detectives Incursion’, a hands-on experience focused on the importance of water health. Engaging in a range of activities, they explored the Campaspe River ecosystem while learning about the science of water testing and aquatic life. Throughout the session, students enthusiastically tested the water for turbidity and pH levels, gaining valuable insights into the water's clarity and acidity. These tests helped them understand the quality of the river’s environment and how it can impact the organisms living within it.

The highlight of the day was examining the river’s biodiversity by searching for macroinvertebrates—tiny creatures that are key indicators of water quality. The students discovered a fascinating variety of river inhabitants, including caddisfly larvae, dragonfly larvae, water tigers, and mayfly nymphs. Each discovery brought excitement as they learned how these creatures contribute to a healthy aquatic ecosystem.

Our day was made even more exciting when an Echidna also stopped by to say hello!
