24th Sunday of Ordinary Time

In Mark 8:27-35, Jesus challenges His disciples, asking them to recognise Him as the Messiah, but He also explains that following Him means embracing suffering and self-denial. This is echoed in James 2:14-18, where faith is shown to be meaningless without works, emphasising that true discipleship requires action, not just belief. Similarly, Isaiah 50:5-9 portrays the obedient servant who endures suffering with trust in God, confident that He will bring vindication. Together, these passages highlight the cost of discipleship, where faith must be lived out through sacrifice, perseverance, and trust in God's plan.

Let us Pray and Reflect

Prayer

O my God, fill my soul with holy joy, courage and strength to serve You. Enkindle Your love in me and then walk with me along the next stretch of road before me.  How wondrous are the marvels of your love, We are amazed, we stammer and grow dumb, for word and spirit fail us.
