Message

Dear families,

As we move into the final week of Term 3, I cannot help but to reflect upon the term that we have had. It has been another busy one, full of amazing experiences for the students and community.

This week will be a nice final week of term with Mass and our 3-6 ERP expo tomorrow, Sandhurst Arts on Show Thursday for our Year 3-6 students, Footy colours day (and some netball) on Friday and lots of learning in between.

Mass

Please come along to our belated Father’s Day Mass on Wednesday at 12:30pm in the Church. Our Foundation to Year 2 students will be facilitating the Mass along with Fr Minh.

ERP expo

We look forward to welcoming families into the school on Wednesday for our Term 3 Educational Research Project Expo from 2:40pm. The students have been working really hard to link their understanding and learning of their subject focus with one of their current interests.

Sandhurst Arts on Show

On Thursday, our Year 3-6 students will travel to Shepperton for our 2024 Arts on Show performance. The students have been practicing for this all term and I am really pleased and proud to say that they have all engaged beautifully and respectfully.

Last Day - Footy Colours Day/Netball

On Friday, we encourage students to wear their favourite sporting team’s colours for ‘Footy Colours Day’. We will have an altered timetable for the day as we finish Friday at 2:20pm. Our day will be normal learning for the first three hours before an early lunch and clean up. We will then have a staff verses parent and staff verses student netball game from 1:30pm in the Hall.

Staff Professional Learning/Pupil Free Day’s 2025

I will soon be sending a letter to all families regarding our staff professional learning/pupil free days for 2025. Our new Director of Catholic Education Sandhurst, Kate Fogarty has been working alongside Leaders of Learning and Teaching and experts within the education field to develop a learning and teaching framework for all schools in Sandhurst.

This is exciting as the framework proposes consistency within the diocese regarding schools delivering programs and pedagogies grounded in research and backed by evidence.

As such, all school staff will be undertaking professional learning (which has commenced already) throughout 2025.

We are looking forward to making positive changes to our teaching and learning practices to ensure that every learner receives the best opportunity for academic growth and excellence.

Attendance

As you know, our school strives for 95% attendance for all of our students. If a child misses just 10 minutes of school per day, that equates to nearly 6 days per year. Through SIMON Everywhere, we have set up monthly reminder percentages to be generated and sent to families to enable you to monitor your child's attendance.

In my experience, families often do not realise how much their children have missed unless it is continually monitored.

I wish you all a very safe and happy Term 3 holiday break with your children. They are all quite tired but are coping very well in the final few days of Term 3.

Thank you everyone, and please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns.
