Tasmania Agriculture Institute Camp | 3–5 December
The Feed Your Mind, Feed the World (FYM) camp is a three-day experience for Year 11 and 12 students interested in learning more about agricultural science and career pathways stemming from an agricultural science degree.
The camp is hosted by the Tasmanian Institute of Agriculture (TIA), which is the agricultural research arm of the University of Tasmania and responsible for teaching the Bachelor degree.
The FYM camp is held in North West Tasmania, allowing students to observe and interact with several diverse agricultural industries and learn about the advantages of studying agricultural science in Tasmania, including a visit to our research farms.
TIA staff members supervise students during the camp, and specific degree details and information on studying at the University of Tasmania are also provided.
Key dates: Tuesday 3 – Thursday 5 December 2024.

TasTAFE | Hospitality Pre-employment program
The Introduction to Bar pre-employment program is specially aimed at College students to gain skills and knowledge for job outcomes during the upcoming busy tourism and hospitality summer season of 2024/2025.
The training will be delivered during the October school holidays, with work experience shifts limited to one or two per week, mostly on Thursday and Friday evenings.
The program is provided free of charge. Places are limited. Start date is Monday 30 September 2024.
All students (not just VET students) interested in gaining employment are encouraged to apply.
New UTAS scholarship for Tasmanian Aboriginal students | Applications now open
Applications for a new UTAS scholarship sponsored by Reconciliation Tasmania are now open.
The Chris Crerar Reconciliation Scholarship is available to a Tasmanian Aboriginal student commencing a Bachelor degree for the first time, in any discipline, at the University of Tasmania from Semester 1, 2025.
The $5,000 a year scholarship ($25,000 over five years) aims to provide financial support for the duration of the undergraduate degree, and to offer the successful applicant opportunities to connect with Reconciliation Tasmania.
The scholarship was established in memory of the late Chris Crerar, a strong social justice advocate who was committed to Closing the Gap and self-determination for Tasmania's First Peoples.
Applications close on Thursday 31 October 2024.

Established in 1927, the Sandy Bay Harrier Club (SBHC) is Tasmania’s oldest athletics club. The club participates in cross country, road running and track and field competitions and has a proud history of supporting athletes at every level, with a focus on fun and participation for competitors of all ages and abilities.

Basketball Tasmania runs camps throughout the school holidays, across the state, including at the following times and locations in southern Tasmania:
Elizabeth College – 256 Elizabeth Street, Hobart
- Wednesday 2 October – 9.00am–3.00pm
- Wednesday 9 October – 9.00am–3.00pm
South East Sports Stadium – 7 Tasman Highway, Sorell
- Thursday 3 October – 1.00pm–3.00pm
- Tuesday 8 October – 1.00pm–3.00pm
Claremont College – access via Narillan Street, Claremont
- Tuesday 1 October – 9.00am–11.00am
