Reading

3/4's have been practising their reading fluency. Throughout the term we have been discussing what a fluent reader looks like and have focused on expressing emotions while reading. To express emotion during reading, our students have been given scripts for reader's theatre. Students have been working in groups, getting into character and displaying their acting skills.

Writing

In Writing, students have been conducting research on the lifecycles of frogs. They have enjoyed sharing the interesting facts they have discovered with their peers and including these facts in their Explanation writing pieces. Students took their time through the whole writing process, editing and revising as they went to ensure that they were producing the best pieces they could! It was wonderful to see them sharing their published pieces with others.

Maths

In Maths, our 3/4 students have been learning about Fractions. It has been incredible to see our students making connections between their prior learning and applying it to their new learning and problem solving activities. Students have shown persistence and resilience through some very challenging tasks and have enjoyed sharing their learning and celebrating their success.

Inquiry/SEL

Over the last few weeks students have been learning about the roles and responsibilities of our local government. We have been discussing rules and laws and the reasons why we have governing bodies. The 3/4 students then took part in a 3/4 ballot where they listened to speeches from potential candidates. We then analysed each speech and discussed the positives and negatives from each one. Students had the responsibility to cast their confidential vote based on the candidate that had values and promises that resonated with them.
