In Reading, we have been learning about features of a non-fiction text. We have discussed how this helps with developing our understanding. We are able to locate a contents, glossary and index pages, and identify photographs, lables, diagrams and subheadings etc.

In Writing, we have been learning about the structure of a narrative and have begun to plan, compose, edit and publish our own version of a known fairy tale as well as composing our own narratives. Students have enjoyed becoming an author and illustrator and are ready to share their amazing books with others.

In Maths, we have been revising our learning. We have revisited concepts such as multiplication, fractions and time. It has been great to see that students have retained their knowledge and understanding of concepts. During problem solving sessions, students have used different strategies to solve through mathematical problems. They have been encouraged to explore different learning tools such as unifix, MAB, popsicle sticks and counters to demonstrate and explain their thinking.

During SEL, we have discussed different emotions. In one session, we have talked about loneliness and how that is a 'normal' feeling and that everyone experiences this at one point. We have come up with strategies of how to cope with these feelings when they arise and have come up with healthy options, such as, reading, play a board game, asking others to join in, drawing, colouring and doing exercise.
