Curriculum topics taught this term within the Resilience, Rights and Respectful Relationships Program include:
Topic 3: Positive Coping
Learning activities in this topic provide opportunities for students to name and discuss different types of coping strategies. When children develop a language around coping, they are more likely to be able to understand and deliberately utilise a range of productive coping strategies and diminish their use of unproductive coping strategies.
Students will be introduced to the concept of ‘self- talk’ and engage in positive self-talk approaches to manage challenging situations. Positive self-talk is a key strategy for coping with negative thoughts, emotions and events. It is associated with greater persistence in the face of challenge, and can be learnt or strengthened through practice.
Foundation Only (in addition to topic 3)
Topic 6: Help-Seeking
Learning activities in this topic area are designed to help students discuss the importance of seeking help and providing peer support when dealing with problems that are too big to solve alone. This helps to normalise help-seeking behaviour.
Students will participate in scenario-based activities to help them identify situations in which help should be sought. They discuss and identify trusted sources of help, and practice seeking help from peers and adults.
In Term 3 the first RRRR Parent Information Session was held by members of the Wellbeing Team. This evening was intended to inform and provide more insight into the 8 topics within this curriculum. For each topic an overview and lesson snapshot showcased the main teaching and learning points. It covered all year level groups from Foundation - Year 6.
A big thank you to all the parents and carers that were able to attend the evening and provide feedback. For those that were unable to attend the evening a recording of the session is made available for your viewing via a Dropbox folder. Additionally, if you would like to learn more about the history of RRRR and curriculum content please access this recording.
In this dropbox folder you will also find:

On Wednesday 16th October, Relationships was the topic of the day in our Visible Wellbeing training for all staff at Hampton Primary School. Specifically, we looked at teachable relationships skills that allow us to build the wellbeing of both the person using the skills, and the other member/s of those relationships. These relationship skills allow us to notice more of the cues from those around us and respond to them in a way that meets their needs and engages more fully with the emotional state of that person. After this training day, we are trialling the implementation of different Response Styles in our classes and staff meetings. One of the key research findings we learned about today was the importance of the 5:1 positive:negative ratio in relationships and teams – you might like to try keeping track at the dinner table and work towards keeping close to that ratio at home!
Thank you to everyone who came to wish Nova a happy birthday on 10th September. The whole school sang her Happy Birthday and she gave doggie treats to her friends in the playground. She ended the day with a Puppy Party at her doggie sitter's place. It was such a wonderful day.
We are looking for any parents or carers to support the ongoing care of our chickens. There is a roster currently in place whereby parents are allocated a weekday or weekend day to make sure the chickens have enough food and water and that their coop is clean. If you are interested in helping, please contact the office.
Thank you to everyone who is collecting eggs this term.
As part of the VWB Program, our school community are provided with the opportunity to attend a virtual parent night with Lea. This is a wonderful opportunity for parents and carers to learn about how they can embed elements of VWB at home with their children. This serves to build consistency in wellbeing approaches between home and school, which is so beneficial to students' wellbeing.
Please read the below information regarding the virtual parent night with Lea.
