Around the College

Welcome back - Term 4

Some of our students found joy on the first day back for Term 4 by turning into butterfly whisperers in the school yard before Pastoral Group.

What a fitting way to start the Term with the butterfly symbolising new life as we begin this next chapter of the school year. As we know, butterflies begin their lifecycle as caterpillars and through a transformative process, they emerge as butterflies. Over the course of this year, we have seen our students transform as they have developed from another year of learning.

We look forward to sharing many more special moments from throughout this Term which is set to be jam-packed!

Into the Woods

Students at St Anne’s College Kialla took to the stage this week for their annual school production - ‘Into the Woods’.

A selection of talented students from Years 5-12 made up the cast which featured an array of popular fairy tale characters including Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood, Rapunzel and more.

Students also made up members of the crew which included assisting with the sound, lighting and changing the set throughout the show.

The musical centres on a baker and his wife, who wish to have a child; Cinderella, who wishes to attend the King's festival; and Jack, who wishes his cow would give milk. When the baker and his wife learn that they cannot have a child because of a witch's curse, the two set off on a journey to break the curse, and wind up changed forever.

Students performed across four magical nights on October 15-18, 2024 in the Black Box at St Anne’s College Kialla.

Keep an eye out for the next edition of il giornale where there will be a big feature on the production which has its closing show this evening.

Breakfast Club

The first day of the new Breakfast Club was a huge success this week.

Recognising that many children and young people face challenges that prevent them from starting their day with breakfast; our breakfast club is designed to ensure that every student has the opportunity to enjoy breakfast in the morning. Research shows that missing breakfast can lead to fatigue and difficulty concentrating, which often impacts learning and behaviour.

We are thrilled to have support from Eat Up Australia - an organisation dedicated to providing children in need with nutritious food. These sandwiches not only offer a convenient option for our busy mornings but also ensure that students have access to breakfast.

The Breakfast Club will be available to all students to come and grab a toastie on Mondays and Thursdays from 8:30am – 8:50am.

Richmond Football Club's Korin Gamadji - AFL 9's

A selection of students travelled to Bendigo to take part in the Richmond Football Club's Korin Gamadji - AFL 9's. The students were very impressed with the scale of the school and the sporting facilities at Catherine McAuley College Bendigo.

The weather held out for us for the day as well!

There were only 3 schools who participated in the end for the Yr 9 - 12's and our school came third on the day. The younger students didn't have a win either but it was lovely seeing all the kids interacting with each other and making friends. Plus some of the students loved getting the freebies (hats, drink bottles, keyrings, bags)!
