Montrose Excursion

As a part of our learning about community and communication, we travelled to the Montrose shops on Wednesday 11 September to look at the different types of shops and to post a letter home.

The bus trip was very exciting! We noticed the signs, street names and numbers on letterboxes. Once we got off the bus we travelled across the ovals to the Peoples Garden in Montrose. The Koalas stopped for a snack while the Possums walked up to the shops. We walked past the bakery to find the post office where we posted our letters home. Mrs Sharpe had a parcel waiting at the post office, so we went in to the post office to pick it up! On the walk back we saw the supermarket, the butcher and the mural paintings of Montrose. When the Possums returned to the Peoples Garden they had their snack while the Koalas went to the shops to look and post their letter home.

We walked back to the Montrose playground where we had a lovely time playing in the park, it was a beautiful day! The Montrose park has a mini village as well as fabulous climbing equipment, and the children had a wonderful time together there.

The children have been drawing and writing letters to each other at kinder, to extend the concept of viewing and listening to printed and visual communication. We have had a lot of fun emptying our post box to see who will receive a letter!
