Let's take a few minutes to unpack that together.
Long before MECS opened its doors in 1973, there was a group of parents who were fundraising and dreaming about starting a Christian school in Mount Evelyn. In the mid-1960’s they formed the Association for Christian Education for Mount Evelyn INC. Our current Association comprises current and past parents, current and past staff and the founders of MECS.
The Association elects Board members to govern on their behalf. Board members prayerfully maintain best-practice governance policies to sustain and grow the school’s vision. The Board is also responsible for appointing Executive Leadership roles at the school: the positions of Principal, Administration Manager and Assistant Principals.
This means that passionate parents oversee the direction of MECS, ensuring that the major governance decisions are made in line with the school’s vision and mission. For the ongoing success of MECS, the school must maintain a strong and committed Association, who will help the school prosper and continue to provide Christ-centred education.
The Association meets twice a year to receive updates about the school and tonight is our EGM! It will be held in the Theatrette, 7pm supper, 7.30pm meeting start.
