News from the Indonesian Classes
Our Year 8 Indonesian classes this year have been an exciting mix of language and cultural studies. As we learnt the vocabulary to be able to talk about these topics, we also had the opportunity to engage with them on a practical level. Our school is blessed to own a selection of traditional costumes that students really enjoyed trying on and having their portraits taken. We are also incredibly blessed to own 100+ Angklung musical instruments that we have been experimenting with musically. In Term 3 a small number of students from each class formed a musical group and performed a personally chosen modern song using Angklung. Hebat sekali! (Great!)

On Indonesian Dress Up Day we got to try on a lot of the traditional Indonesian costumes that we had learnt about. It was exciting to be able to actually try on the clothes we had learnt about. Taking pictures of us was fun.

In our Indonesian Cultural classes we have been looking at traditional Indonesian housing. We also studied Angklung which is a traditional Indonesian musical instrument made of bamboo. We also got to dress up in traditional Indonesian Javanese and Balinese clothing.
