Specialist Classes
STEM
Over the last two weeks in STEM, the Senior students have all been working on the Alarm Design Challenge where they were required to address the following Design Brief:
Use your electronics engineering skills and knowledge to create an electrical alarm circuit.
The students worked in pairs to create an electrical alarm circuit using lots of different everyday items. They had to work out how their alarm would be triggered and follow each of the steps in the Engineering Design Process to create their end product. They were also required to include a circuit diagram in the Planning phrase to show the electrical components of their alarm.
The Grade 3’s, 4’s and 5/6s all worked really hard on this project and came up with lots of fantastic designs, some of which we will be able to share at the upcoming Specialist Showcase in Term 4!!!
ART
We have our second ever Specialist Showcase coming up in week 2 of term 4 which is super exciting. It will be held in the Cill Dara this year and will be a gallery style afternoon. Parents and friends are welcome to come and view the wonderful work of the students in our Specialist Areas this term. We didn't want to share too much of our work as it will be displayed at our showcase. Pop the date on your calendar!
ITALIAN
Ciao a tutti!
Students in Grades 3-6 have enjoyed playing “Val Pescare” (Go Fish) in Italian. Using a deck of cards they asked their partner for a particular number in Italian (Hai due? ) and their partner responded either, “Vai Pescare” or “Si”. Winners announced, “Ho Vinto!” (I won!). Students learnt to take turns, to ask and answer questions and apply their knowledge of numbers in Italian. Bravissimi!
SPORT
We have had some great weather days the last two weeks to be outside playing sports. The students have been demonstrating their developing throwing skills and adapting to different sports! We have been playing games that introduce skills to play touch. We have been practising how to throw across our body, spinning the ball and passing backwards. The students have enjoyed scoring trys and have had a great go at something new.
Congratulations to Tamara, Zac, Cabe and Ella for their achievements at the Division Athletics on Monday. They represented the school with pride and came home with some ribbons! Tamara came third in discus, Cabe fifth in shot up and Ella came third in shot up. Amazing effort to these students for reaching the division levels and completing so well!! A big congratulations to Zac as he completed in the 200m and the triple jump, coming first and second!! Can’t wait to hear where your athletic abilities will take you next!!
