Building Biome Dioramas | Year 5

Dear Parents and Carers

In this busy and exciting time of term we are grateful for the incredible support and care that our parents, staff and students bring to our community. Currently our Year 10, 11 and 12 cohorts are working through their Semester 1 examinations, the Year 7 students are refining their Shark Tank pitches and the senior students of the Primary School, our Year 6 group, are applying themselves with great vigour to prepare their PYP Exhibition. This week has seen the Archives remain open to visitors from across the community as we mark International Archives Week, and we thank Mrs Carol Lander for her dedication and care with the history of our wonderful school.

AngliSchools 40th Anniversary Celebrations

2025 is a milestone celebration for AngliSchools - 40 years of dedicated service to Anglican education. Formerly known as the Anglican Schools Commission, AngliSchools encompasses 16 schools Australia-wide caring for almost 18,000 students. Last Friday, leaders and long-standing staff from across AngliSchools gathered for a 40th Anniversary celebratory dinner. Along other special guests, we were delighted to be joined by our two previous principals, Ms Anne Ford and Ms Victoria Morgan, as well as our much-loved JWACS Archivist, Carol Lander. We acknowledge Mrs Lander’s significant tenure and contribution as John Wollaston’s longest serving staff member! Congratulations, Carol, and thank you for your continued service to JWACS and to the wider AngliSchools community.

AngliSchools Samoa Service Learning Trip

Four John Wollaston students are heading to Samoa in the upcoming holidays to serve and assist All Saints’ Anglican School. On their journey, our students will be working with a range of young people in the area, as well as alongside those in the All Saints’ community. We are inviting our community to be involved by donating school supplies, including paint brushes suitable for indoor craft and/or for painting large fences/walls. If you would like to contribute to this worthwhile cause, please simply bring any donations to Primary or Secondary Reception. We are hoping to have all donations ready to be packed by Friday 20 June. Our students, and our friends in Samoa, will be very grateful for any contributions, which will make up the gifts presented on behalf of the JWACS community.

Inter-School Cross Country

We are very proud of all those that represented John Wollaston at the Inter-School Cross Country events last week. Our Primary and Secondary students had some wonderful results, which you can read more about in the Student Achievements section of this edition of Wollaston’s Wrap. Just as importantly, our staff were delighted with the endeavour and positivity of all who competed, as well as the manner with which they represented their school.

Enjoy this edition of our Wollaston’s Wrap Newsletter and all that this exciting term has to offer.

With best wishes
