The Huddle

Umpire Program

Each year, we run a dedicated netball umpiring program that gives our students the opportunity to learn and develop as umpires. The IPSHA Netball competition provides the perfect starting point—offering a supportive environment for the girls to build confidence and gain practical experience. This year, we’re thrilled to have a record 32 students participating in the program! Not only is umpiring a fantastic way for them to earn some money, but it also deepens their understanding of the game and sharpens their own on-court skills.

Sisterhood Runs Strong in Netball

This year we have 22 netball coaches with 20 of these coaches being proud Kambala Old Girls. These coaches have returned to the courts, not just to coach, but to give back to the community that helped shape them. Their presence is a powerful reminder of the strong sisterhood that defines Kambala.

These former students bring with them not only a wealth of playing experience, but also a deep understanding of the values and traditions of the school and shows what a strong culture we have created in netball.

Their commitment to staying involved reflects the lasting bonds formed at Kambala. By mentoring current players, they continue a cycle of support and connection that makes our netball program more than just a sport, it’s a living expression of our shared history and community pride.

I am so proud of the community we have created in netball and so happy to have these “old girls” return each year.

Mother's Day at Netball

A couple of weeks ago we celebrated Mother’s Day at Netball. We thank all our mum’s and stand in mums for all their support and encouragement. We hope everyone had a lovely Mother’s Day.

Jasmine and Polly finished runners up in the 18 and Under division. Both Jasmine and Polly played in the Possibles vs Probable's teams with Polly selected to represent NSWCIS at the National Touch Championships.

It is great to see our players who started their  career learning to play Touch  at Kambala progress to the top level of the sport.

IGSA Cross Country

Kambala had 48 students take part in the IGSA Cross Country Carnival at Frensham School, Mittagong. The conditions were perfect for cross country running with cool and cloudy conditions. The 13 years team of Olivia Boulton, Aria Calabro, and Erykah Skimin won the team Bronze medal. Olivia Boulton qualified as individuals for the IGSA team after finishing in the top ten. In the 15 years Piper Sweeny showed a great return to form winning Bronze in the 4km and will represent IGSA at the NSWCIS Carnival.

A big thank you to all the girls who competed for the school giving it their best effort. It was most impressive to see our Year 12 cohort run the 6km and they certainly lead by example with our Head Girl, House Prefects and Sports Prefect taking part in the event. It was unfortunate we lost a couple of our top athletes due to injury, but it was impressive that the reserves were most willing to come and compete for the school.
