SUSTAINABILITY NEWS

Gardening Club

Our carrot, broccoli, bok choy and cauliflower are starting to grow nicely. Look at our gorgeous “Percy Pumpkin” we grew!

Bee Hotels

Today in Gardening Club we made a Bee Hotel! Bee hotels, while helpful for native bees, don't encourage stings. They are designed to provide nesting habitat for solitary bees, which are not aggressive and are unlikely to sting

Bee hotels are important because they provide vital habitat for native bees, many of which are solitary and rely on structures like these for nesting and raising their young. By creating artificial nesting sites, bee hotels help support native bee populations, which are crucial for pollination, especially for certain crops like tomatoes.

Compost Ninjas

Well done to our Compost Ninja team who collect our food scraps every day and feed them to the worms. By doing this, we save so much waste from going to landfill, helping to reduce methane gas, and therefore global warming. It is so good to know we are doing such a good job of saving our food scraps and turning them into great compost for our gardens!

Can you help water our garden?

Our gardens near the library and MPR would love more water if any parent is able to help. Even a few drink bottles after school would be super helpful!

Have a great week everyone! Thanks for your great efforts in helping us live in a way that is kinder to our environment!
