It’s been another busy and productive fortnight at Ceres Primary School, with a number of important initiatives and events taking place across the school.
Our Year 4, 5 and 6 students completed the annual Attitudes to School Survey, which is a valuable opportunity for us to hear directly from our senior students about their learning, wellbeing, and sense of connectedness at school. The feedback we receive plays a key role in helping us understand what we’re doing well and where we can continue to grow as a school community. We look forward to analysing the results with the students and using them to shape our improvement planning moving forward.
We also welcomed several prospective families onsite as part of our enrolment tours for the 2026 school year. It’s always a pleasure to showcase the learning and culture here at Ceres, and we are grateful to our student leaders and staff who helped make these visits such a warm and welcoming experience.
Finally, a special thank you to Mr Roberts, who has kindly initiated some before-school activities to support all students, in particular, those who have been experiencing anxiety in the mornings. These fun, welcoming sessions have already made a positive impact and are also helping to encourage earlier and smoother arrivals to school.
We understand that mornings can sometimes be busy, but arriving at school on time is very important for your child’s learning and daily routine. Students may miss important instructions and disrupt the classroom environment when they arrive late. Please ensure your child arrives promptly so they can start their day smoothly and not miss valuable learning time. If you anticipate being late, kindly notify the school office in advance. I appreciate your co-operation in helping us maintain a positive and focused learning atmosphere.
Parent/Teacher Interviews will be held in Week 3 of Term 3, on Monday 4th, Tuesday 5th, and Wednesday 6th August. (2/3W is an exception-see below).
These interviews are a valuable opportunity to discuss your child/ren’s Semester One report, celebrate their progress, and plan for the remainder of the year.
Each interview will be 10 minutes in duration and can be held either in person or over the phone. (If you prefer a phone interview, please inform your child’s classroom teacher ahead of time so they can call you during your scheduled time.)
Bookings will open (via Compass) on Day 1 of Term 3, Monday 21st July, and will remain open for two weeks.
We encourage all families to book a time and look forward to working together to support your child’s learning journey.
If your child has a Student Support Group (SSG) meeting in the last couple of weeks of Term 2, a Parent/Teacher interview early next term is not necessary unless specifically requested.
Please note: Interviews for 2/3W will take place in Week 11 of Term 2, as Miss Willis will be away for all of Term 3. Bookings for these will open in Week 9.
This week we have been celebrating National Reconciliation Week in our classrooms. The theme this year is Bridging Now to Next. This is an important week for our country. The theme reflects the ongoing connection between the past, present, and future.
Bridging Now to Next calls on all Australians to step forward together, look ahead and continue the push forward as past lessons guide us.
In the #NRW2025 theme artwork created by Kalkadoon woman Bree Buttenshaw, native plants − which are known for regenerating after fire and thriving through adversity − symbolise our collective strength and the possibilities of renewal. This is a time for growth, reflection, and commitment to walking together.
If you have a sibling of a current student needing to be enrolled next year, then we ask that you notify the office sooner rather than later to give us a clear indication of potential numbers.
Enrolment forms are now available from the office.

Reminder:
Our student led Assembly is today at 2:30 pm. Our assembly is an important part of our school. It is an opportunity to proactively reinforce our school values and expectations through the acknowledgement and celebration of our students and school.
Have a great fortnight!
