A note from Mr Jackson

Racism – No Way

In the last few days, a small number of incidents involving racial remarks have occurred in the playground. I have made it clear to students that racism has no place in our school community. Our shared values of respect, kindness, and inclusion remind us of what is central to us all. In discussions with students, I have emphasised the richness that diversity brings to our lives and the importance of celebrating what makes each of us unique.

Students have been reminded of the no tolerance stand against racism. Classroom discussions have focussed on building an inclusive environment and ensuring that our school remains a safe and welcoming space for everyone. I encourage each parent or carer to speak with your child about racism and the values we stand for as a school. Your support in reinforcing these messages at home is vital and deeply appreciated.

Early Morning Arrivals

Supervision on the yard starts at 8:45am each day. Parents are asked to ensure that their children do not arrive prior to this time to ensure their health and safety. TheirCare provide an Out of Hours Care Service from 7:00am through to 9:00am for parents requiring supervision of their children during this time.

Working Bee

Saturday 31 June

A wonderful group of hard workers gathered on Saturday for the Term 2 Working Bee. They worked extraordinarily hard to see numerous tasks completed. The garden on the retaining wall outside Prep T was refreshed with mulch. A number of the central drains throughout the site were cleared. Two cubby houses were pieced back together and installed in the lower playground. Without the support of volunteers these projects could never have been completed.

Our new cubbies are a hit across all year levels. Their popularity has forced us to limit access to students from Prep through to Year 2. We hope that such limitations will support student access for the younger year levels.

Values Celebration Thursday

Thursday 5 June

Today students have an opportunity to celebrate the positive behaviour that has been demonstrated since the start of the year. The introduction of the School Wide Positive Behaviour celebrations and the focus on explicitly teaching the values and behaviour expectations has energised student understanding and reflection on the key values of Respect, Inclusion, Collaboration and Kindness.

ICAS Assessments (Years 2-6)

A separate ICAS Compass post this week invited students and parents to consider participating in these standardised assessments in the areas of Science, Mathematics, English and Writing. Please note that these tests are not compulsory, they are simply an opportunity for students to challenge and extend themselves.

The scheduled window for the ICAS Assessments at Rosanna Primary is:

  • Writing (4-8 August)
  • English (11-15 August)
  • Science (18-22 August)
  • Mathematics (25-29 August)

More information on how the assessments are managed can be found on the Compass post.

5/6 Camp Alexandra Adventure Camp Expression of Interest

A reminder to parents and carers of Year 5 and Year 6 students that we are receiving Expressions of Interest for students wishing to attend. This year’s 5/6 camp will be held at Alexandra Adventure Resort, just beyond Alexandra, between Wednesday 27 August 2025 and Friday 29 August 2025. A Compass post to parents provides information on how parents can express interest in their child attending and payment of the initial deposit.

A reminder that parents along with their children are invited to attend a Camp Orientation on Monday 16 June. This will be an important opportunity for students and parents to gain a clearer understanding of the camp experience prior to the finalisation of the expression of interest on Friday 20 June.

Campfire Conversations

Wednesday 11 June

Next Wednesday, First Nations students are invited to join with other local schools in a cultural experience at the Barrbunin Beek Gathering Space.  Notes have been sent home earlier this week. Please ensure consents are returned by Tuesday 10 June, via email to   rosanna.ps@education.vic.gov.au
